State of the Union, 2010

Madam Speaker, Members of Congress, Ladies and Gentlemen, and Distinguished Guests, earlier today, I had the privilege of taking the oath of office as the President of the United States of America. Tonight, my fellow Americans, I begin my term in office by declaring that our nation and all nations are on the threshold of a world like no other. We are not only proud citizens of the United States, we are also citizens of the world. All nations now depend on each other, and the United States now depends on all nations.

Think Like A Forest

Think Like A Forest Video Thumbnail

In the forest there is no such thing as garbage! Everything works together without harming anybody.  They find ways to get along because they need each other.  Pierre talks about how people can learn to think like a forest.

When we think like a forest, we seen many things newly. We see that waste does not exist, we can make our own food, and we can take only what we need - no more. We see that all living things have a right to live their lives, too. We see how to live together, and we see how to run a business - all by thinking like a forest.

Good Morning Antarctica, 2075 AD Video Thumbnail

It's the year 2075 and Pierre and Mother Earth have found that the ice has melted off of Antartica.  Where did it all go?  Why did we let the world warm up?  Pierre takes a silly look at global warming.

In the year 2075 AD, Pierre and Mother Earth visit New-New York, located on a mountain top in Antarctica, one of the few dry places left on Earth since all the glaciers melted and flooded the world.

Sun Run: The Power Company Pays Marian at a Remarkable Passive/Active Solar Home

Sun Run: The Power Company Pays Marian at a Remarkable Passive/Active Solar Home Video Thumbnail

When we first filmed her, Marian Peleski showed us how she payed only $2 or so for electricity many months in her custom-designed solar home.

Since then, it has gotten even better. She installed a solar hot water system (vacuum tube design) which is difficult in the cloudy East Coast of the U.S. With reduced hot-water consumption, her electric bills 'went negative' - so the power company has to pay her for her renewable energy generation!

Most importantly, she is getting payed to generate clean energy.

Global Oil Supply Crunch: Peak Oil and Why the Oil Wells are Running Dry

Global Oil Supply Crunch: Peak Oil and Why the Oil Wells are Running Dry Video Thumbnail

Oil is a finite resource. Now, even conservative analysts at Lloyds of London insurers and Chatham House consultancy are predicting oil prices rises to $200/bbl in a new report.

Read the original report from Lloyds of London and Chatham House here.

In our short film featuring Pierre Terre, with Bill Burke of the Post Carbon Institute, we find out about "Peak Oil" and why so many oil/gas wells are running dry. We see California oil wells and their ugly, toxic tar residues.

Across the world, oil production is highest just as we reach the end of the lifetime of many oil and gas wells. The year 2010 was predicted as the peak production year.

This is the "Peak Oil" problem.

Not Hotter, Not Drier, Not Here.

New Mexico is one of the hottest, driest States in the US. Because of global warming, it is getting a lot hotter, a lot drier.

Especially in the United States, we need to pass bold, comprehensive clean energy and climate legislation. 1Sky.org is leading in the US - join the movement. Take action. Make history, especially for the already-dry southwestern US, where conditions are worsening. In Mexico City this year, the United Nations COP16 event will try to extent this work to a global treaty

Ask your freinds and other citizens to take action.

Educate yourself.

Motivate yourself.

Change the world.
